Building on the Rock
Question: Now, how do we build on that?
The Bible, the Word of God, gives us some answers. Jude 20-21 tells us, “But you dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 14: 12, “…Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.” To the Thessalonian church he wrote, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11). In 1 Peter 2:4-5 we are told, “As you come to Him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him—you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
Answer: Build yourself up in your holy faith, seek to excel in gifts that build up the church, encourage and build each other up, and become a living stone in the hands of The Living Stone—Jesus!
