About Macarthur Worship Centre

A brief history

Macarthur Worship Centre is a Pentecostal/Charismatic Church and is a part of the international body of the Church of God with its headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, USA. It was planted out of the Campbelltown Church of God and registered with the New South Wales Department of Fair Trading on the 9th of October 2002.

Macarthur Worship Centre was started at 7 Hope Street, Harrington Park, in the home of Pastors Jack & Mary-Margaret Morris.  We began meeting as a congregation on Sunday, 3rd November 2002.  The charter members of MWC consisted of 8 adults and 6 youth.

A youth ministry was started by Frederick and Jacqueline Kesner in December 2000 in a home in Campbelltown. After Campbelltown Church of God was organised, this group became a part of that church. Later, when Macarthur Worship Centre was started, the youth were an integral part in helping to establish the church.  They became involved in leadership and in every facet of ministry.  Four months later when we rented a school hall, the youth did the manual setup and breakdown of all equipment.

In July of 2005 the congregation leased the Church of God Ministry Training Centre in Campbelltown.

OUR MOTTO: “Each one, win one.” Our plan for evangelizing is by friendship evangelism.

OUR VISION: To impact the Macarthur region with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through personal evangelism, preaching and teaching the Word, and involvement in the community. As we grow we will plant new churches both here and in other parts of Australia.

OUR MISSION: To PRAISE God, to have a PASSION for souls, and to PLANT churches.

We will present the Gospel in such a way that non-Christians want to become Christians, and hurting people will find spiritual and emotional healing for their lives. To win the unsaved, disciple the converts, and plant them in churches is the great call of God for all ages.

Declaration Of Faith

The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely true and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We Believe:

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
  • In one God existing eternally in three persons; namely the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That he ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for the forgiveness of sins.
  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • In sanctification subsequent to new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the word and by the Holy Ghost.
  • Holiness to be God's standard of living for his people.
  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost to be subsequent to a clean heart.
  • In speaking with other tongues as the spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
  • Divine healing is provided for all in atonement.
  • In the Lord's supper and the washing of the saints' feet.
  • In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Practical Commitments

The Church of God Practical Commitments offer scriptural guidelines for practical Christian living.

Spiritual Example
We will demonstrate our commitment to Christ through our practice of spiritual disciplines; we will demonstrate our commitment to the body of Christ through our loyalty to God and commitment to His church; and we will demonstrate our commitment to the work of Christ through our being good stewards.

Moral Purity
We will engage in those activities which glorify God in our body and which avoid the fulfillment of the lust of the flesh. We will read, watch and listen to those things which are of positive benefit to our spiritual well-being.

Personal Integrity
We will live in a manner that inspires trust and confidence, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and seeking to manifest the character of Christ in all our behavior.

Family Responsibility
We will give priority to fulfilling family responsibility, to preserving the sanctity of marriage and to maintain divine order in the home.

Behavioral Temperance
We will practice Temperance in behaior and will abstain from activities and attitudes which are offensive to our fellowmen or which lead to addiction or enslavement.

Modest Appearance
We will demonstrate the scriptural principle of modesty by appearing and dressing in a manner that will enhance our Christian testimony and will avoid pride, elaborateness or sensuality.

Social Obligation
It should be our objective to fulfill our obligations to society by being good citizens, by correcting social injustices and by protecting the sanctity of life.
